Recognizing that grief is an entangled state that changes over time, and resides in the body physically, emotionally and psychologically, this research examines textile craft as an embodied creative practice for processing myriad emotions that come with grief. Drawing on the intimate connection between textiles, the body and nature, textiles are especially relevant for this work. Deconstructing and reconstructing textiles out of damaged or otherwise discarded garments and thrifted/estate sale yarn have resulted in a conversation with time and place that considers this entanglement. Craft with textiles has further offered opportunities for healing, building resilience and autonomy, while engaging with the world in a creative and meaningful way.
